Italy’s textile, clothing, leather and accessories sector recorded a growth of 4.4 percent year-on-year during the first seven months of the current year, according to the data from Istat.
The increase in textile and apparel sector production was in contrast to the decline of 4 percent year-on-year in overall industrial production during the seven-month period.
In July 2013, the textile, clothing, leather and accessories sector posted a growth of 2.3 percent year-on-year. It was the only sector that recorded a positive growth during the month.
The seasonally adjusted July 2013 industrial production index declined by 1.1 percent compared to the previous month and 4.3 percent year-on-year.
The Istat industrial production index tracks the monthly performance of the volume of industrial production, excluding construction sector, in Italy.
