Textile Industry Gearing Up To Compete With Global Market |

Minister of Industries and Mines Es''haq Jahangiri while speaking at the conference on Isfahan''s textile industry said that the products supplied by 7,000 textile units all over the country constitute 6.5 percent of the national value added.
Referring to optimization of quality as a means to prepare the grounds for competition on the world textile market, he reiterated that given the major change in the type of textile products, textile production should suit the demands of the world market.
He said that provincial textile units totally account for 7.8 percent of the national industrial production,19.3 percent of employment and 10 percent of industrial export.
One might say that the crisis of bankruptcy facing the textile units is over. Turning to the significance of textile in the world industry and trade, he said that today there are only a small number of countries, including Iran, which are not yet members of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
He added that the decisive role of textile industry will be unveiled once a country gets admitted to WTO.
