United Kingdom : Demand For Women''s Fashions Boosts Debenhams'' Sales

 Major department store group Debenhams on Tuesday posted a 3.9 per cent rise in second half same-store sales on the back of strong demand for its women''s fashions.

The London-based operator of more than 100 stores said total sales for the six months ended August 30 climbed 7.7 per cent despite the summer heatwave, with gross margin for the period up 0.7 percentage points.
