WU CHUN TANG KUNG FU is a officially recognised form of martial arts devised by Master Harries. It is designed for practicability for all male, female, young and old alike.
WU CHUN TANG is a combination of the best points of all the different styles of Martial Arts that Master Harries had trained in. It is a style which does not use excessive force, therefore you do not need to be physically big and strong or exceptionally fit. As long as you can stand up and side step - then you can learn WU CHUN TANG KUNG FU.
WU CHUN TANG is a style which uses both hard and soft techniques, all hard movements are in a circular motion, stances are a bit like a cat stance, in other words 95 % of your weight is on your back leg and 5% on the ball of your front leg. This way you can kick faster off your front leg, retreat and move sideways faster.
WU CHUN TANG does not have kata’s or forms to learn, each move is taught individually so each student can make the most of their ability, nothing is taught in a pattern form because no one fights or attacks in a set way, so the student must develop their own reflexes and techniques to suit themselves. What suits a 6 foot, 16 stone man will not suit a 5 foot, 8 stone man, so you adapt each move for the individual.
Unlike other styles WU CHUN TANG is a style that can be learnt by a young child and still used by that child throughout their teens, into adulthood and beyond.
